Why changing my diet didn’t help me balance my hormones

Published 28 days ago • 2 min read

Hey Reader,

If you’ve been around for a minute, you’ve heard me share about my long and windy road with diet culture, body image, and how even “healthy eating” can take a turn for not-so-healthy mental health.

Here’s the thing that’s both comforting and upsetting… I know I’m not alone 😒

I’m guessing the major of women have been led to believe through the wellness craze that…⤵️

in order to heal yourself from any ailment, drastically changing your food choices will “fix” everything.

Full stop. Problem solved. Tah dah!

Mehhhh… 🫠🫠🫠

Now, I’m not saying that eating whole foods and animal proteins and prioritizing ancestral nutrition isn’t a piece of the puzzle for a lot of us…

But the reality is (and what I’ve found myself caught up in MULTIPLE TIMES) is that the “diet industrial complex” so 👏 very 👏 sneaky and shows up here too.

I’ve learned to catch this internal warring that still happens for me around food & “healing”… but we’re slapped with these messages constantly.

Here are 3 things that I did that have helped me the most on my hormone healing journey that WERE NOT ABOUT MY DIET ⤵️

🗓️ Started Cycle Tracking - the simple (but super powerful) practice of tracking the four phases of my cycle, understanding how I feel during each phase, and then how to support my body accordingly.

🫖 Brought ritual into all four phases of my cycle — for me, this is my tea time. The Inner Seasons Tea Set is based on both the power of cycle syncing with herbs AND the nourishing ritual of crafting a cup of organic tea to mark each shift in the cycle.

🌀 Started cycle-syncing my lifestyle! After a few months of cycle tracking, I noticed the patterns in my cycle and how I could build out my lifestyle… from self-care to exercise to my social life. So now I’m waaaay much more kind to myself when I cancel plans in my luteal phase these days. Which means → less of a stress response in my body → in turn, less Inner Autumn PMS freakouts 🙃

How about you, ? What has your relationship with “healthy eating” been like on your hormonal health journey?

I’d love to hear from you if you want to share your story — just hit reply, and it’ll come straight to my inbox, for my eyes only 👀

Big Love, all ways always

P.S. This is the perfect time of year (with Aries 🔥 season and the height of spring upon us!) to start a new ritual habit to support your hormones. Be sure to check out The Inner Seasons Tea Set for the perfect ritual + herbal nourishment combo to get you on the happy-hormone-train! 🚂💨

Hey, Reader — are you someone who’s struggling with wonky hormones, painful periods, or maybe just sick and tired of being at odds with your cyclical body? It was effing uncomfortable, and I wasn’t so sure I wanted to take the slow road. Coming off of hormonal birth control was like chipping away at...
